Janata Jute Mills Limited and Sadat Jute Industries Limited, both AkijBashir Group companies, received the HSBC Export Excellence Award 2025 in the Non-Traditional and Emerging Sectors Manufacturing category at a ceremony in Dhaka on 7 December 2025.
Four Bangladeshi exporters were recognised at the ceremony, which was supported by the Ministry of Commerce and the British High Commission Dhaka. Entries were judged on annual export contribution, economic impact, sustainability practices, governance standards and global competitiveness — five criteria rather than volume alone.

A Heritage Industry, in Higher-Value Lines
The award places the group's Jute Division among the leading contributors to Bangladesh's global trade. The division has moved a heritage industry into higher-value products — technical and geo textiles, non-woven felt, sustainable packaging and lifestyle accessories — rather than competing on raw fibre and sacking alone.
By the group's own account the division exports to nearly ninety countries, has invested in advanced automation, and works to a circular-economy approach across its lines. The group states that the Jute Division will continue to prioritise excellence and sustainability, and ties the recognition to its wider aim of strengthening Made in Bangladesh in global markets.
Announced by AkijBashir Group, 9 December 2025.
